Loomyn

Privacy Policy

How Loomyn collects, uses, and protects your family's information.

Effective October 18, 2026

Loomyn builds personalized lessons, practice, worksheets, and activities for learners from kindergarten through grade 12. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Loomyn website and app, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. “Loomyn,” “we,” and “us” mean the Loomyn service. “Parent” means a parent or guardian account, and “learner” means a student profile, whether it belongs to a teen or was set up by a parent.

Information you give us

  • Account details. Your username, email address, password, birthday, and whether the account is a parent or learner account. You can also add a first and last name. We store passwords only in hashed form.
  • Learner profiles. When a parent adds a learner, the parent gives us the learner's name, username, grade level, birthday, and interests. An email address and password for the learner are optional.
  • Profile and preferences. Grade level, interests used to theme lessons, an optional ZIP code, voice tutor settings, and answer and worksheet settings such as whether the answer key is shown.
  • Lesson requests. The topics you ask Loomyn to teach, the grade level, and the interests you choose for that lesson.

Information we collect as you learn

  • Lesson progress. Which lessons a learner opens, how many times, how far they get, and whether they liked or disliked a lesson.
  • Practice results. Each answer to a practice problem, whether it was correct, and whether a hint was used.
  • Activities and reading. Which offline activities and books a learner marks as done, and the lessons a parent adds to a learner's course.
  • Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting providers record basic request information such as IP address, browser type, and the time of each request. We use it to keep the service running and secure.

Microphone and voice features

Some lessons include a read-aloud coach, and learners can “raise their hand” to ask a voice tutor a question. These features use the microphone only after the learner taps to start and the browser grants permission.

Voice audio is sent to our speech provider to transcribe what was said and to power the spoken conversation. Loomyn does not save read-aloud recordings, voice tutor audio, or their transcripts to our database, file storage, or logs. The voice tutor knows the lesson the learner is on and their first name so it can respond naturally. You can decline or revoke microphone access in your browser at any time, and the rest of Loomyn keeps working.

Nearby events

If you add a ZIP code to your profile, Loomyn can look for upcoming local events that connect to a lesson. To do this we send the ZIP code, along with the lesson topic and a learner interest, to OpenAI, which runs a web search. We do not send your name, email, or birthday with that search. Remove your ZIP code from your profile to turn this off.

Information stored on your device

Loomyn uses your browser's local storage, not advertising cookies, to keep you signed in, to remember the parent account when a parent switches into a learner's view, and to remember preferences such as grade level and which offline activities are checked off. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. Signing out clears your sign-in details from the browser.

How we use information

  • Create and manage accounts, sign you in, and let parents manage learners.
  • Generate lessons, narration, images, practice, worksheets, activities, and book suggestions at the right grade level and around the learner's interests.
  • Save progress so learners can pick up where they left off, and show parents how their learners are doing.
  • Check that interests and lesson topics are appropriate for school-age learners.
  • Send account email, such as email confirmation, password reset, and a notice when we publish a lesson you generated.
  • Keep Loomyn secure, prevent abuse, fix problems, and improve lessons.

We do not use learner information to serve ads, and we do not build marketing profiles of children.

AI services that help build lessons

Loomyn uses AI providers to write and review lessons, illustrate them, narrate them, and run the voice features. What we send is limited to what the feature needs: lesson topics, grade level, interests, the lesson content itself, and, for voice features, the learner's first name and voice audio. We do not send email addresses, passwords, or birthdays to these providers. Each provider processes this information under its own terms and privacy commitments.

Lesson content is generated from the topic and settings, not from your account details, and generated lessons, images, and narration are stored so they can be replayed.

Private lessons

A lesson generated for you is private by default. Only your account and the learners on it can open it. It is not shown to other families, and it is not labeled with your name or your learner's name.

The Loomyn team can publish a lesson so it is available to all users on the platform. We email you when we publish a lesson you generated. A published lesson includes the lesson itself, not your name, email, or other account details.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only:

  • With service providers that run Loomyn for us, including hosting and databases, file storage for lesson images and audio, account email, and the AI providers.
  • Within your family. Parents can see and manage the profiles, progress, and practice results of the learners on their account.
  • When we publish a lesson. A published lesson is available to all users on Loomyn. It does not include your name or your learner's name.
  • When required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or Loomyn.
  • As part of a business change, such as a merger or sale, in which case this policy will continue to protect the information transferred.

Children's privacy

You must be 13 or older to create your own Loomyn account. We ask for a birthday at sign-up to confirm this, and we do not create an account for anyone under 13 who signs up on their own.

Children under 13 can use Loomyn only through a learner profile set up and managed by a parent. By creating that profile, the parent consents to Loomyn collecting and using the child's information as described in this policy. We collect only what is needed to teach: a name, username, grade, birthday, interests, and learning activity. Learners under 13 cannot edit their own profile, create lessons, or change answer key settings; those controls stay with the parent.

Parents can review or change their child's information at any time from their account, remove the learner from Loomyn, or contact us to request that we delete it. If we learn that we collected information from a child under 13 without a parent's involvement, we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Review and update your profile, interests, and ZIP code from your profile page.
  • Turn microphone access on or off in your browser settings.
  • Parents can remove a learner. When the parent is the only one managing that learner, removing them deletes the learner's profile, progress, practice results, and activity records.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing support@loomynlearn.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We honor these requests for all users, and we will not treat you differently for making one.

How long we keep information

We keep account, profile, and progress information while the account is active so learners can continue where they left off. When an account or learner is deleted, we delete the associated profile and learning records. A lesson you generated stays private to your account unless we publish it. If you delete your account, that lesson may remain in Loomyn without being linked to you. Voice recordings are never retained. Server logs and backups are kept for a limited time and then deleted.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, including encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and sign-in sessions that expire. No online service can guarantee perfect security, so please keep your password private and let us know right away if you think your account has been compromised.

Where information is processed

Loomyn is operated in the United States, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. By using Loomyn, you understand your information will be handled there.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Loomyn changes. We will update the effective date above, and for significant changes we will let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Loomyn after an update means you accept the revised policy.
